HISTORY
Arno Bay began as a shipping dock servicing the local farming districts. super phosphate was brought in and cereal crops were sent out. The jetty, an old beacon, historical monuments and the original 'super' shed still stand. The town was proclaimed in 1883 under the name of Bligh, but renamed in 1940.

 

 

 

 

 

 

FACILITIES
Arno Bay offers a beachfront caravan park, playground, hotel, general stores, post office and motor garage/fuel outlet. An all-weather boat ramp, with floating pontoon and a refurbished town jetty provides for the boat and shore based anglers. Sporting venues include a winter golf course, bowling green, oval, tennis, netball and squash courts, dirt circuit and in summer yacht racing proves popular being held each Sunday.
